2005 Nation

60% Merlot | 35% Cab Sauvignon | 5% Cab Franc

Many of the best red wines emerging from California’s Central Coast are carefully crafted blends of compatible varietals. We have created our 2005 Nation with exactly that in mind.

Robust dark fruit qualities of Merlot’s ripe black cherry mingle with light tobacco leaf and spice-box aromas in this lively wine. Supported by Cabernet Sauvignon’s buffering tannins and fresh acidity, this complex offering delivers subtle hints of dusty cocoa intertwined with a berry-like fruit profile on the fore-palate. A touch of Cabernet Franc adds a savory note to the finish, and an engaging herbal element to the tapestry of flavors and aromas that evolve from this superb wine -- eminently drinkable now, but destined to age gracefully in bottle for years to come.

This classic, seamless blend shows how the intensity of our vineyard’s fruit character, experienced winemaking, and judicious blending together create a wine that is so much greater than the sum of its parts. Our 2005 Nation is indeed a tribute to the merging of individual components to provide a greater whole.
