About Gro Wines

Gro Wines is the personal project of husband-and-wife winemakers Lars Bjorkman and Molly Hill—a quiet pursuit of balance, place, and patience. The name comes from the Swedish word meaning “to grow” or “to take root,” reflecting a belief that great wine begins long before it’s bottled.

Lars has spent over two decades in Napa Valley shaping wines from both valley floor and mountain sites—experience that honed his restraint, precision, and vineyard-first approach. Lars has worked at Gloria Ferrer, R.H. Phillips, BRL Hardy’s in Australia, Flora Springs, and Saddleback in Oakville, where he now makes the wine along with owner Nils Venge--the first Napa Valley winemaker to receive 100 points from Robert Parker. Molly served as Head Winemaker at Sequoia Grove for more than a decade, where she became widely respected for crafting elegant, site-expressive Cabernet Sauvignon. Together, they bring a calm confidence to every decision in the vineyard and cellar.

Working with small, character-rich sites across Napa and Sonoma, Gro is crafting wines that are honest to their origin: expressive mountain Cabernet, focused and mineral-driven Chardonnay, textured Cabernet Franc, and a bright, savory Nebbiolo. Each bottling is made in very limited quantities, guided by a simple idea—let the vineyard speak, and speak softly.

Gro Wines is not about spectacle. It’s about presence. About the quiet certainty that comes from thoughtful farming, careful cellar work, and wines that feel alive, balanced, and deeply personal.
